Isn't that so true! I had a student this year whose Dad was deployed....he came and spoke to the class while he was on leave. The stress, the heartache, the loneliness, and the isolation experienced by all family members during his deployment is indescribable. It is very disheartening for the soldiers. They are putting their lives on the line (whether they are personally for or opposed to the "liberation"), and still, their is no guarantee it is helping to keep their families safe. In fact, it appears their presence is having the opposite effect. Quite sad for all.
I also find the title "The War on Terror" amusing. Doesn't make much practical sense.
I wouldn't classify that statement as a "Random Political Statement" but rather, a "Random Inflammatory Statement." Look at it from the other side, it would be just as inaccurate to say that the war on terror was a great success because of all the bombings that have been successfully avoided. Seeing as we can't quantify the number of bombings that haven't occurred, both sides of this argument can claim to be correct. The problem I have with people that lean too far to the left or too far to the right is that they tend to walk in circles.
Tim,You are correct, I would not be able to win a logic debate with this topic, (especially with you or Ben Wallace). :-)And I know, I have walked in a lot of cirlces in my life!I am always excited to see your posts. I try not to let my non-Peace Corps agenda items sneak into this blog, but from time-to-time they find their way in...Jay.
Hi Jay... I think I am leaving with you guys to Namibia! Kristin let me in on the news:) I was nominated for "somewhere" in Africa on November 14, doing primary education teacher training. Unfortunately, I don't have my assignment yet. I'm so hoping that this is where I get to go. . . . I hope to meet you soon!
Oh ya. . . any way I could get permission to post on the Fourteeners site? Thanks;)
U R Added!
The war on terror was to get the terrorist not to attack American soil and yes so far it worked. Let us all pray for the safe return of the troops.Good luck in the Peace Corps and keep safe.
